Question 1

What does it cost to e-file Form 2290 here?

Accepted Answer

$4.50 per truck, capped at $18 per fleet, for a first filing. A returning customer renews for $1 per truck, capped at $10. An amendment is $10, a VIN correction is free, and a final return is free for a returning customer ($4.50 otherwise). The federal tax itself is paid to the IRS, never to us.

Question 2

When is Form 2290 due?

Accepted Answer

The tax period runs July 1 to June 30. A truck first used in July is due August 31; a truck first used later is due the last day of the month after it was first used.

Question 3

How fast do I get my stamped Schedule 1?

Accepted Answer

Usually within minutes of the IRS accepting the return. It is emailed to you, and it is the proof of payment states ask for at registration.

Question 4

Can I file in Spanish?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every step of the Form 2290 flow is in English and Spanish; the return that reaches the IRS is the same either way.

Question 5

What if I sold a truck or drove under 5,000 miles?

Accepted Answer

Claim the Form 2290 credit on Form 8849 Schedule 6 (CRN 365), which you can e-file here for $5.
